چکیده

Many recent studies in the field of kinetic façade developed grid-based modular forms through primary movements which are restricted simple shapes. However, learning from biological analogies reveals that plants and trees provide adjustable daylighting strategies by means multilayered curvature morphological changes. This research builds on a relevant literature study, observation, biomimicry approach (top-down), parametric simulation to develop biomimetic form, inspired tree morphology improve occupants’ daylight performance. The first part uses review explore how influences façade’s functions. Then, study applies extract formal tress due dynamic daylight. Concerning functional convergence, principles translated form configuration movements. extracted into design solutions for resulting flexible using intersected-multilayered skin vectors with comprehensive annual climate-based metrics luminance-based metric (625 alternatives) confirm high performance bio-inspired complex improving preventing visual discomfort comparison plain window as base case. provides improvement, especially best case achieves spatial Daylight Autonomy, Useful Illuminance, Exceed Illuminance 50.6, 85.5, 7.55 respectively.

Sympodial fractal structures: tree-inspired concept for biomimetic engineering design

In this work, the analysis of a tree-inspired fractal structure is presented. First, trajectories of points on branches of different hierarchy of a tree that oscillates freely are recorded in experiments. Then, the principle axes and ellipses of displacements are determined analytically for a sympodial fractal mechanical model. Modes of oscillations and their frequencies are found numerically f...

Facade Design Optimization for Daylight with a Simple Genetic Algorithm

The aim of the present study was to determine the applicability of a genetic algorithm for the optimization of daylighting systems, as well as the requirements for the lighting simulations to be used. Furthermore, by testing the daylighting performance of a building's facade when several parameters are allowed to change simultaneously, the results were used as a complement of previous parametri...

Implementing Cellular Automata for Dynamically Shading a Building Facade

We present a practical cellular automaton (CA) implementation from the field of architecture that drives the modular shading system of a building facade. Some CAs produce patterns that seem to live their own life and may therefore please the human eye. Probably the most important quality of a good design is integrity of elements. By nature, a CA is an essence of integration, where all elements ...

Improving Correlation-Based DEMs by Image Warping and Facade Correlation

We present in this article a system which improves a DEM. The method reconstructs all the facades of the building and then, corrects the initial DEM by deleting the points of the roofs which pass over the boundaries defined by the facades. We correct the shapes of the buildings with the initial photographs to have sharp contours. The proposed approach does not use any a priori information about...
